BaZi uses no planets at all — it converts your birth date and hour into stems and branches through the Chinese solar calendar, and reads them through the five elements. What is the BaZi equivalent of my Sun sign?

The closest equivalent is your Day Master — the Heavenly Stem of your day pillar — not your Chinese zodiac animal. Your Sun sign comes from the sun's position; your Day Master comes from the day you were born. This is the trap for anyone crossing over from Western astrology. It is tempting to look for "the BaZi version of my Sun sign" and land on your Chinese zodiac animal — but the animal is only your year pillar, shared by everyone born that year. The real parallel to a Sun sign is your Day Master: drawn from the day you were born, it is a far narrower, more personal signature than a sign the sun sits in for roughly a month.

Not a contest

Neither system is the "true" one. They are two languages describing the same life. Western astrology is rich in psychological nuance and archetype; BaZi is rich in elemental balance and timing — when conditions support you and when they ask more.
